The word "copper" is a Latin to
Anglo derivative of the name Cyprus, a Mediterranean island.
It is on this island that copper was mined in vast quantities
that supplied the Roman Empire and many others in years past.
The greenish/turquoise patina (verde green) develops when copper or brass has
reached its full aging process when exposed to the elements.
Hence, the green dome
churches,
a century or more old. Hence, the
statute of
emperor Constantine,
also many centuries old. Upon antiquing of the mailbox,
another dipping process is then begun to age the mailbox well
beyond what our other mailboxes endure. After installation
on your home, the patina (verde) will continue to harden onto the
mailbox surface after each mornings mist. It is the water
and other elements in the air that create and sustain the
patina. Instead of waiting a few hundred years, we got it
started for you. Mailboxes are handcrafted in your choice of
solid brass or solid copper. The clear lacquer is
optional. Mounting hardware is included with your
order. Your selection of material, profile, and brackets are made
during your purchase selection. |
